The St. Nicholas Church was built and consecrated on September 11, 1868, according to the old calendar. Its construction was financed by donations from parishioners and external benefactors. Before the 1917 revolution, the number of parishioners reached 2,761, and a church school operated at the parish.

The church functioned until 1962, after which its building was used as a storage facility for pesticides. This led to the loss of frescoes and the deterioration of the structure.

The revival of the Nikolskoye Church began in 1999 thanks to the efforts of the residents of the Korennaya Monastery. Since August 28, 2003, regular services have been held in the church again.
