In 1863, when the church in the village of Akulichi burned down, the residents of three villages, Muzhinovo, Alen, and Nedyelka, decided to create a separate parish. In 1873, a church was built in the village of Muzhinovo in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, marking the beginning of the Muzhinovo parish. In 1875, the village of Bulshovo from the Mglin district of the Chernigov province joined it. The parish had 1,598 men and 1,621 women, predominantly peasants, as well as Cossacks and townspeople. The church was erected thanks to the efforts of peasants Alexander Moskin and Ivan Kuzhekin. In 1890, priest Andrei Diesperov, funded by parishioners, arranged a side altar in honor of the Protection of the Holy Virgin. The clergy consisted of three people, and the church land occupied 36 desyatinas. The parish had a church school, a zemstvo school, and a literacy school. In 1937, the church was closed by the Soviet authorities, and on June 9, 1943, it was burned by retreating German troops.

In the building of the former kindergarten located opposite the school, a church in honor of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was opened, which became a subsidiary to the Church of St. Prince Vladimir in the village of Kletnya. The first services here began in 2010. Architect and restorer from Bryansk, A.P. Perov, developed the sketch of the church, which was approved and endorsed by Bishop Vladimir of Klintsy and Trubchevsk. After that, a reconstruction project was created, based on which cost estimates are currently being calculated. Significant financial and material resources are required to carry out the work.
