Malye Shcherbinichi, also known as Novye Shcherbinichi, is located in the Zlynkovsky district and serves as the center of the Shcherbinichsky rural settlement, situated 22 km southeast of Zlynka. The first mentions of the village date back to the first half of the 17th century, when it was referred to as the Shcherbinitskaya sloboda and was part of the Cholkhovo volost, with no Cossack population present. Since 1712, the village became a parish, and the Church of St. Nicholas was built here. The last church building, erected in 1830, was wooden; it was closed in 1938 and has not survived to this day. In the late 19th century, a zemstvo school was opened in the village.

In July 2016, Bishop Vladimir of Klintsy and Trubchevsk, along with the clergy of the diocese, conducted the consecration of a cross at the site of the destroyed Church of St. Nicholas in Malye Shcherbinichi. A memorial liturgy was also held in memory of the fallen new martyrs and confessors of Russia. The installation of the cross was initiated by the Diocesan Commission for the Canonization of Saints in the Klintsy Diocese.
