On May 22, 2012, the St. Nicholas Church in the village of Lomovo celebrated its 200th anniversary. During the restoration of the church in 1998, a metal plaque was discovered under the floor with the date "1730", presumably indicating the year the foundation stone was laid. However, according to the Culture Department of the Korochan District, the church was built in 1812. Archival documents have not survived, but the church is recognized as a cultural heritage site and is protected by the state.

Research has shown that the first known priest, serving since 1867, was Alexey Nikolayevich Slyunin. After his death, his son, Alexander Alexeyevich Slyunin, left his studies at the law faculty of Kazan University and became a priest in Lomovo, serving until his arrest in 1930. He was sentenced to 10 years in a labor camp and sent to Solovki. In 1940, he returned to the church, gravely ill, but continued to serve until his death in 1943. He is buried by the church walls. The church remained active during the years of the revolution and civil war until 1943. The psalmist from 1918 was Nikanor Ivanovich Gorodov, who served until 1934. It is unknown who served from 1934 to 1940. In 1943, a shell hit the bell tower, and it was dismantled to make way for a road for Soviet troops. After the war, the church was used as a collective farm storage.

In 1998, the residents of Lomovo decided to restore the church. They actively participated in the work with the support of the Diocese and local authorities. Less than a year later, the church became active again, and Priest Dmitry Viktorovich Korotchin was appointed as the rector.

In the 21st century, during the spiritual revival of Russia, the church was not fully restored. Thanks to the initiative of local residents and the support of the governor of the Belgorod region, Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, as well as investors, the church was restored. On May 22, 2010, Archbishop John consecrated the church. In September 2009, Priest Alexander Ivanovich Kostiuk became the rector. A new life for the parish began: services and sacraments are held, a Sunday school and library operate. Active spiritual work is conducted with local schools, kindergartens, administration, and parishioners, and catechetical discussions are regularly held.
