The Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker was built in 1866 with funds provided by merchant Isaac Andreevich Lantratov and parishioners from Tyukalinsky district. At that time, it was located in the village of Leskovskoye.

The original appearance of the church can be restored from the insurance report dated August 2, 1910: the building was made of stone, plastered inside and out, with an iron roof painted with oil paint. The church had a small wooden dome, ten large windows, and three outer doors covered with iron. Inside, there were six doors and one iron stove. The bell tower reached a height of 1 sazhen and 2 arshins. The priest's house was located 25 sazhen to the north of the church. Another source describes it as a one-story stone church with plastered walls painted with oil paint. The church, along with the iconostasis and bell tower, was valued at 9,000 rubles.

The church was a single-nave quadrilateral with lowered apse and refectory, to which a two-tiered bell tower was attached. The iron roof was laid on a wooden frame, but now it is destroyed, only the wooden frame with a spire remains. The ringing tier had rectangular windows with semicircular tops, and the narrow diagonal edges ended with high pediments. The facades were divided by a cornice into two tiers, the upper of which was completed with an entablature with a Doric frieze. The vertical division of the facades was carried out by Doric pilasters. The main facade was divided by paired pilasters into three parts, with a door opening and a rosette in the center.

The church was 10 sazhen long, 4 sazhen wide, and the height to the cornice was 3 sazhen 1 arshin. The iconostasis was 3 sazhen 1 arshin long and 2 sazhen 1 arshin high, valued at 3,000 rubles. In 1900, the parish had 10 villages with a population of 1,632 men and 1,737 women, of which 7 were dissenters. The church had 3 desyatins of homestead land, 99 desyatins of arable land, and the same amount of hayfields and forest.

According to the schedule dated February 16, 1885, the church was served by a priest, a deacon, and two psalmists. In 1901, a church-parish school was built near the church, valued at 1,000 rubles. From January 15, 1914, the psalmist was Konstantin Platonovich Trofimov.

In 1920, the church's property was nationalized, and in 1937 the building was closed. Documents from 1945 indicate that the church in Leski was in good condition but was not in use, and the domes had been removed. In 1935, priest Alexander Vladimirovich Fokinsky was subjected to a food tax.

The church ceased to exist due to repression. In 1937, reports were made against priest Fokinsky, and he was arrested. He was accused of counter-revolutionary activities. Along with him, Ivan Nikitich Slivko, Ivan Timofeevich Borodin, and Yevdokiya Egorovna Mineeva were convicted and executed. The St. Nicholas Church in Leski remained in a semi-ruined state for a long time, with its roof removed and frames broken.
