In the village of Golovino, a church was built in 1818 at the expense of landowner Andrei Chernoglazov in honor of St. Nicholas. Although the original building of the Nicholas church has not survived, a new church with the same name was erected in its place in the early 2000s.

The community was restored in 1995, and in March 2001, the cornerstone for the new church was consecrated in the center of Golovino. Construction lasted 8 years, and in January 2008, the church was consecrated. The new St. Nicholas Church is built from standard concrete blocks and features a single-domed design on a basement floor with trifoliate finishes on the facades.

Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol, addressing those gathered, noted that the lengthy construction was part of God's providence, which taught humility and brought even more joy at the opening of the church.
