St. Nicholas Wonderworker Church in Beliy Kolodez

Фото 1
The Nicholas Church was built by Elizabeth, the daughter of landowner I.A. Zhikulin. This place leaves an indelible impression. The church is located on a hill near a forest, making it difficult to access by transport, but very picturesque.

According to the "Reference Book on Churches, Parishes, and Clergy of the Kursk Diocese for 1908", the Nicholas Church was located in the village of Alexandrovskoye in the Sudzha district, three versts from the village of Beliy Kolodez. This stone building was constructed in 1859, and a zemstvo school operated at the church.

During the Great Patriotic War, the church was not in operation. After the war, until 1967, Father Vasily served here. After his death, the priest was no more, the religious community disbanded, and in 1973, local authorities, in agreement with the region and by order of Moscow, closed the church. In the following years, the church was repeatedly looted and not repaired. Revival began in May 2003. The church is dedicated to St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, and parishioners celebrate the patronal feast on December 19, on the Day of Winter Nicholas.
