The village of Vulanovskaya, founded in 1864 after the end of the Caucasian War, was named after the Russian soldier Arkhip Osipov in 1889, as permitted by Emperor Alexander III. In Arkhipo-Osipovka, there is the St. Nicholas the Wonderworker Church, which is considered the oldest in the area.

The church was built in 1906, but in the 1930s it was almost destroyed and closed. All church property, including icons and bells, was loaded onto a barge and sunk nearby.

In 1992, the building, which had long been used as a store, was returned to the faithful. In early 1993, when an expedition to inventory national heritage sites visited the church, work began to clear the premises. At that time, the Church of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker and the village's first educational institution, the former parish school, were included in the lists of newly identified architectural and historical monuments. The restoration project for the church, including the construction of a bell tower over the western entrance, was developed by architect Igor Morgunov and engineer Igor Golovkin. According to their project, the central dome was restored, four corner domes were added, and a fifth over the altar. In total, seven domes with crosses were installed on the bell tower, their golden shine highlighting the historical center visible from afar. The new bell tower houses named bells. The Church of St. Nicholas also has a church school, consecrated on December 12, 2010.
