The Nikolaevskaya church, built with the contributions of parishioners in the 1850s, was closed in the 1930s and used as a grain storage facility. According to locals, it was the most beautiful church in the area, dedicated to St. Nicholas, Archbishop of Myra in Lycia. During World War II, the building was blown up, and its bricks were used to construct a road near the village of Tatyankovka for the movement of Soviet tanks. Viktor Vasilyevich Ishchenko, a resident of Annovka, recalled that the church was blown up three times before it was destroyed.

On July 2, 2016, a new church in honor of St. Nicholas was opened and consecrated. It stands at the entrance to the village of Annovka, not far from the site of the former church. The consecration was conducted by Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol. The history of the new church began thanks to the initiative of Matryona Kirillovna Stadnik, a former teacher at the Annovka school, who was the first to donate funds for its construction. She was supported by Alexander Dmitrievich Bespalov, who became the patron of the project and provided housing for the rector. On October 13, 2015, Metropolitan John consecrated the cornerstone of the new church.

On December 19, 2015, Priest Mikhail Usaty consecrated the bells for the under-construction church. The ceremony concluded with the transfer of the new church to the Belgorod and Stary Oskol Diocese, an act signed by Alexander Dmitrievich Bespalov and Metropolitan John.
