The Inkerman Monastery houses three cave churches connected by a common corridor. This corridor serves as a narthex, an internal closed porch where believers can stay during services.

One of the churches is dedicated to St. Martin the Confessor, the Pope who was a significant ecclesiastical and political figure of the 7th century. In March 655, he was exiled to Chersonesus or Inkerman for his steadfast defense of orthodox Christian beliefs. During the developed medieval era, there was a thriving monastic center in this valley, comparable to Inkerman Athos, which had several dozen churches and hermitages.

The Church of Martin the Confessor has a rectangular shape with an altar apse to the east and a vaulted ceiling.
