The cornerstone of St. Luke's Church, located on the territory of the Medical Radiological Scientific Center of the Russian Academy of Medical Sciences in Obninsk, was consecrated on January 8, 2007, by Metropolitan Kliment of Kaluga and Borovsk.

The church, dedicated to Luke Voyno-Yasenetsky, is situated in the northern part of the institute. It is a wooden church with traditional architecture: an octagon on a square base, standing on a stone foundation clad in tiles. The same tiles are used for the cladding of the area around the church. The main entrance is adorned with a two-tiered roof, and an apse adjoins the building. The octagon is topped with a gilded dome with a cross. Nearby is a small wooden bell tower. The church has a prayer room.

On May 30, 2010, Metropolitan Kliment conducted the rite of great consecration and the first Liturgy in the church dedicated to St. Luke, Archbishop of Simferopol and Crimea, on the territory of the Medical Radiological Scientific Center in Obninsk.

This is the first hospital church in the first science city of Russia, initiated about ten years ago by the renowned Russian scientist and director of the MRNTS RAMS, Academician Anatoly Tsyb.

There is a temporary prayer room at the church in the building of the second clinic of the Medical Radiological Scientific Center in Obninsk. It was consecrated on May 15, 2007, by a priestly order. Here, the Sacraments of Communion, Anointing, Repentance, and prayers are conducted for the staff and patients of the center.

The church houses an ark with a relic of St. Luke.
