The St. John Chrysostom Church is a recently built church in the revived Belgorod-Starooskol Diocese. In the Sosgorod microdistrict of Valuyki, which was previously a town, there were no churches, and now the church begins its history.

On August 28, 2008, on the day of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Archbishop of Belgorod and Starooskol consecrated the cornerstone, marking and blessing the start of the new church's construction. In January 2009, with the blessing of Bishop John, the dean of the district, Archpriest Vladimir Nekrasov, consecrated the domes of the building under construction. From that month, Priest Dmitry Gotovkin, a cleric of the Nikolsky Church in Valuyki, was appointed as the construction supervisor from the Diocese.

The construction was funded by donations from residents, private entrepreneurs, and organizations. The head of the Valuyki district, Ivan Mikhailovich Posokhov, took charge of the construction organization. The consecration of the church took place on December 12, 2010, by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Starooskol. After that, the first Divine Liturgy was held, along with a ceremonial event where the act of transferring the church to the Russian Orthodox Church was signed. Priest Oleg Guryanov was appointed as the rector of the church.

The church also serves as a memorial to the Valuyki soldiers who died for their homeland during the Great Patriotic War. In the left niche of the central part of the church, there are memory books with their names and surnames on marble stands.
