Since August 1995, the convent has been located in the building of the former spiritual school, which also houses an Orthodox gymnasium and the Kaluga Spiritual School with a boarding house for 45 people. The spiritual school was opened in January 1815 at the spiritual seminary and was initially located in the same building on Naberezhnaya Street. Over time, due to the increasing number of students, it was decided to move the school to a separate building. In the summer of 1837, a house belonging to merchant Y. I. Bilibilin on Arkhangelsky Lane (now Darwin Street) was purchased for 72 thousand rubles to accommodate the school. The reconstruction of the house for the needs of the school lasted three years, and classes began in September 1840.

In 1903, at a congress of the diocesan clergy, a decision was made to build a church at the school. It was decided to attach the church to the school building, allocating the second and third floors for it. On August 30, 1903, the first stone was laid, and on December 1, 1904, the church was consecrated in the name of Guriy of Kazan. The construction took just over a year. The church was small, measuring 15x10 meters, and its walls adjoined the school hall, separated by doors. To the left of the altar was the sacristy, and the iconostasis was single-tiered. The floors were laid with Mettlach tiles, and the walls were decorated with white moldings and columns against a red background. The church was topped with five small domes, and the church utensils were donated by K. T. Ivanova.

After the closure of the school, the church was converted into an assembly hall, and the five-domed topping was removed. After the collapse of the USSR, various commercial organizations occupied the building. On August 3, 1995, the building was transferred to the diocese, and until 2011, it housed a convent. Now, the Kaluga Spiritual School and the Orthodox gymnasium are located in the building again. The house church of Guriy of Kazan has been transferred to the gymnasium, and now it is topped with only one dome.
