The fortified town of Yablonev was founded in 1637, but in the 18th century it lost its city status and became a village. In 1810, the residents decided to build a stone church in the village in honor of St. Great Martyr Dimitrius of Thessalonica. The church is a two-light square with a dome roof and a cupola, with lowered side narthexes and a multi-tiered bell tower complementing its architecture. With the arrival of Soviet power, the church was partially destroyed, and it remained abandoned until the late 1980s. The restoration of the church took place in 1990 thanks to the efforts of Dukmas A.N. and the rector Father Nikolai. In August of the same year, the church was consecrated by Archbishop Juvenaly of Kursk and Belgorod.
