The parish of the church in honor of Saints Athanasius and Cyril of Alexandria existed in Pushkarnaya Sloboda as early as the 16th century. A cemetery was located near the church.

In 1750, a new wooden church was built. In 1800, with the funds of merchant Andrian Illarionovich Bogomolov, a stone church was erected on the site of the wooden one, featuring two chapels in the refectory: in honor of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God and Saints Martyrs Adrian and Natalia. In 1875, the refectory was expanded and connected to a 25-meter bell tower, which has not survived to this day.

The brick church, designed in the classical style, is a three-altar single-domed structure with a refectory that housed the Vladimir and Adrian-Natalia chapels, and a bell tower. The refectory was expanded in 1875. In 1930, the church was closed, the bell tower was demolished, and the building was used as a warehouse. In 2007, the church was restored.

The Church of Saints Athanasius and Cyril of Alexandria was closed in 1930 and was used as a warehouse for a hemp factory. In 1989, the dome of the church was restored by the Oryol restoration team. Currently, the facade of the church has been restored by the company 'Orelstroy.'
