The first mentions of the church date back to the early 18th century. On July 7, 1703, at the request of the residents of the Belopolsky district of the village of Sukhinovka, permission was granted to build a new church in the name of the Meeting of the Lord. Already on June 8, 1701, an antimins was issued for the newly built church. By 1723, the church building had deteriorated significantly and became unsuitable for services. The church elder Zachary Osipov requested a 'blessed decree' for the reconstruction of the old church. In December 1735, priest Lavrenty Afanasyev and benefactor Danilo Ivanov reported that the church was ready for consecration, and in 1737 it was consecrated. The building was repeatedly reconstructed, as evidenced by a record in the clerical ledger of 1915: the Meeting Church was built 'by the efforts of the parishioners' in 1773 from wood, with a wooden bell tower.

By 1915, the Sukhinovka parish school was operating at the church, located in a separate building and funded by local landowner E.M. Tereshchenko. The Sukhinovka and Novoselovka zemstvo schools also operated in the parish. In 1918, the parish schools came under the jurisdiction of the People's Commissariat for Education. In 1935, the church was closed, and the building was used as a club. There is no information about the resumption of services in the church during the Soviet years.

The parish of the Meeting of the Lord was restored on November 30, 1995. On this day, Archbishop Juvenaly (Tarasov) consecrated the altar of the church and conducted the first Divine Liturgy. The church is located in the building of the former primary school, built of red brick and covered with slate. A Sunday school operates at the church, and there is a parish library.
