Фото 1
In 2011, the Church of the Meeting of the Lord was built in the village of Lapygino on the site where a church, destroyed during the Soviet period, once stood. In 1900, a wooden church in honor of John the Theologian was erected in this village, serving not only the residents of Lapygino but also peasants from neighboring villages of Kursk, Bocharovka, and Rovenek. The parish had four zemstvo schools and two primary literacy schools.

During the Soviet era, the church was closed and destroyed. The new Meeting Church in Lapygino was consecrated on February 13, 2011, by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol. The funds for its construction were provided by the Belgorod Customs, and the building took four years. At the opening ceremony, Archbishop John emphasized: "The Meeting is a meeting. The first to meet people arriving or returning to Russia from abroad are the customs officers and border guards."
