By the decree of the Arkhangelsk Spiritual Consistory dated March 30, 1892, number 3039, permission was granted to build a wooden church in honor of the Meeting of the Lord between the villages of Gamskaya and Zlobskaya. By 1912, the construction of the church was completed, and it was assigned to the Mokhchenskaya church. An independent parish was established by the decree of the Holy Synod dated June 6, 1915, number 7735, which was received by the decree of the Arkhangelsk Spiritual Consistory dated June 19, 1915, number 6442.
The church had a capital of 480 rubles. The interest from the capital of 10,000 rubles, donated by the peasant of the Gamskoye community, Timofey Yefimovich Rochev, was used for the benefit of the clergy instead of arable and haymaking land. The land plot by the church, including the churchyard, was 1536 square fathoms.
The psalmist was Georgy Pavlovich Sokolov, who was transferred to the attached Gam Sreten Church of the Mokhchensky parish by the decree of the Arkhangelsk Spiritual Consistory dated July 27, 1912, number 8254. The rector was priest Palladiy Ioanovich Popov, ordained a priest in 1913 by His Grace Nafanail, Bishop of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory. The elder was Filipp Timofeyevich Rochev, son of the founder Timofey Rochev, a local peasant who held this position since 1913.
The church seal that was used at that time is now kept in the Izhemsky Museum.
On the feast day of the Meeting of the Lord, February 15, a service was held in the church. On frosty days, a procession was made to the river and back. The priest blessed the water, and a brave person, who accepted baptism on behalf of all the villagers, was dipped in the water three times for the protection of livestock and buildings.
The church was closed in 1925. The bell tower was destroyed, and the icons that local residents could not hide were destroyed. The building was used as a warehouse, and from 1962 to 2007, it housed a village club.
The villagers decided to restore the ancient church. The community of the Sreten Church was formed, and Mikhail Grigoryevich Rochev was appointed as the elder. Since January 7, 2011, the church has opened for church holidays, and since spring 2015, services have been held there. In March 2016, the Orthodox community of the Parish of the Church of the Meeting of the Lord in the village of Gam underwent state registration.
