Church of the Transfiguration in Tvorishichi

Фото 1
The wooden church of George in the village of Tvorishichi has been known since the early 17th century. The current Transfiguration church was built between 1850 and 1858 with funds from landowner V. Bezobrazova, as indicated by an inscription on the northern wall. From 1890 to 1900, a bell tower was added to the church. The temple is designed in an eclectic-romantic style and features unique interior decorations, including a replica of Mount Tabor, similar to that which existed in the now-lost Monastery of Bethany near the Trinity-Sergius Lavra. The iconostases date back to the turn of the 19th-20th centuries, while the icons are from the 20th century. During the Soviet era, the church continued to function.

The church has two altars. The lower church is dedicated to the great martyr and victorious George.

Fifty years later, a bell tower was added with funds from the elder and parishioners.
