Historical information about this church begins in 1764, when it was built of stone, and earlier data has been lost. However, there is a document indicating that in 1714, "Father Pavel of Ilyinsky" participated in the compilation of the inventory of the Divnogorsk Monastery, which suggests the existence of the Ilyinsky Church at that time.

According to church documents, the stone church with an altar in the name of the Holy Prophet Elijah was erected in 1764. In 1819, the construction of a stone annex with two side altars next to the main one began. Due to financial difficulties, the work was delayed for seven years, and only on October 9, 1826, were the side altars consecrated. Services in them began six years later when the parishioners were able to complete all the work. In 1834, the church was fully renovated and consecrated with three altars: the main one in the name of the Transfiguration of the Lord, the side altar on the right in the name of the Sign of the Mother of God, and the one on the left in the name of the Holy Prophet Elijah.

Since 1834, the church remained unchanged until 1896, when it required updates to the iconostasis and interior decoration, including the altar, domes, walls, and arches. Funds for this were collected over a long time, and in 1897, the renovation was completed. The church has been in continuous operation.
