The Church of the Transfiguration was built in 1823 and is now in a state of ruin.

It is located in the village of Kondratovka in the Kursk region, which has existed for over 300 years and is named after its founder, Kondrat Volkonsky. From the very beginning, it was a small settlement, with houses located around an old wooden church surrounded by dense forests. In 1826, Count Volkonsky financed the construction of a brick church, consecrated in honor of the Transfiguration, and for some time the village was called Preobrazhensky.

The new church was located in the center of the settlement and amazed with its beauty. Its brick walls were adorned with paintings both inside and out. Massive gates stood on three sides of the building, and the domes with crosses sparkled under the sunlight on the roof. Three bells hung in the belfry. The floors inside were laid with oak and polished to a shine. The church was surrounded by a stone fence, and linden alleys were located around it. After the service, a loud ringing of bells was heard, and festivities with songs began.

In the 1930s, the church was closed, and its premises were used for various agricultural needs.
