The Church of the Transfiguration in the village of Dolgiy Kolodez was built in 1871 with funds from the local nobleman Shagarov. Details about the construction process have practically not survived; it is known only that Shagarov erected the church in memory of his daughter Varvara.

The Church of the Transfiguration was impressive and sturdy. The brick building featured reliable masonry, and its upper part was adorned with arches. The church had three altars, and its interior was decorated with frescoes, traces of which can still be seen on the walls today. According to local elders, the church housed holy relics, but no one remembers to whom they belonged.

Niches where these relics presumably were located have survived to this day. Currently, the Church of the Transfiguration is in a very deplorable state.
