In the city of Bryansk, on Lenin Avenue, there is the Orthodox Spaso-Grobovskaya Church. It was built in 1904 with the financial support of church elder P. Mogiltsev on the site of an old wooden church. The project of the cathedral was developed by local artist-architect N. Lebedev. According to chronicles, the church was erected on the burial site of Bryansk bishops Nafanail and Nektariy, which explains its name.

In 1929, the church was closed, and its upper part was destroyed. The building was modified with ceilings and offices, and new windows were added on the first floor, altering its original appearance. For some time, it housed a morgue, and later the premises were used as a 'House of Entertaining Science and Technology.' In 1985, the domes of the church were restored.

Since January 7, 1993, the Spaso-Grobovskaya Church has been functioning again as part of the Russian Orthodox Church. The interior decoration of the cathedral has been fully restored.
