The Orthodox parish in the village of Novoaleksandrovsk was founded in 1993. The building for the church was handed over to the South Sakhalin and Kuril Diocese in July 1999. Since then, it has gradually been improved through the efforts of parishioners and benefactors. On September 27 of the same year, Bishop Gabriel of Blagoveshchensk and Tynda, along with Bishop Jonah of South Sakhalin and the Kurils, conducted the consecration of the church and the Divine Liturgy.

Over the years, the church has become a spiritual and cultural center for many residents. Thousands of people have received the Sacrament of Baptism here.

Currently, regular services are held at the church, attended not only by local residents but also by many parishioners from the regional center.

A Sunday school and library operate at the church, available to all who wish to participate. The clergy also conduct discussions and provide support to patients at the narcological dispensary.
