In the village of Olkhovatka, there were once two Orthodox churches: one dedicated to the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and the other to the Epiphany of the Lord. In the 1930s, the Nativity church was repurposed by the authorities into a school, while the Epiphany church was burned by the Germans during the war. In 2011, with the blessing of Archbishop German, the construction of a new church began. On December 15 of the same year, Bishop German consecrated the altar and the church-chapel of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. This church was built in memory of the soldiers who died during the Great Patriotic War of 1942-1945.
