The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary was built in 1828 thanks to the funding of the noble Shabelski family. At that time, a significant portion of the land around the settlement belonged to this noble lineage. Thanks to their efforts, the help of ordinary people, and the work of an unknown architect from St. Petersburg, an Orthodox church appeared on an artificial hill in the lowland. It has never been closed.

Today, the church has become a symbol of the village, attracting attention with its picturesque architecture. This building, constructed to last for centuries, is preserved for future generations thanks to the efforts of Archpriest Alexei Doronin, caring individuals providing financial support, and parishioners.

For almost two centuries, the bells of this beautiful Christian church have been ringing over Goptarovka. However, the population of this fertile land is declining. Currently, only 52 people live here: six children, three young people under 30, 25 middle-aged individuals, and 18 pensioners. Of more than 80 remaining homesteads, only 26 are inhabited.

Services in the church are held once a month.
