Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Gogolevka

Фото 1
In 1894, at the initiative of landowner Pyotr Vasilyevich Duchenko, a stone church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary with a bell tower covered with iron was built in the village of Gogolevka in the Sudzhan district.

From 1896 to 1916, two priests served in the Gogolev church: Alexander Azbukin (1896, 1905) and Dmitry Ivanovich Pokrovsky (1905, 1916).

During the Soviet period, the church fell into disrepair; however, through the efforts of the Cossacks of the Sudzhan district, it is now being restored and regaining spiritual life. An iconostasis and altar have appeared in the church, services have been held for two years, and new windows have been installed.
