Before the October Revolution, there were two churches and three chapels in Tyukalinsk. The first Orthodox church was laid in 1775. The wooden Archangel Michael Church stood for over a century but burned down in 1870.

The main altar of the Trinity Church was solemnly consecrated on October 27, 1852. Two years later, a chapel appeared on the southern side of the church, and a second altar dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh the Miracle Worker was consecrated. This two-altar church was built exclusively with the funds of parishioners and was noted for its durability and capacity.

In 1893, 23 years after the fire, a newly rebuilt church in the name of Archangel Michael was consecrated in Tyukalinsk, which became an annex to the Trinity Church. Since the beginning of the last century, three chapels were added to it. In 1872, a church parish charity opened at the Trinity Church, and from 1886, a church parish school began to function, later receiving city status. Today, the district library is located in its building.

During the Soviet era, the Holy Trinity Church was closed, and in the late 1930s, its domes were removed, and the building was used for secular purposes. Today it has survived but in a reconstructed form and is used as a fire station. The Archangel Michael Church was also closed and destroyed, and a park was created in its place between the modern tax office and the monument to the revolution fighters. Stones from the church were used to build a school. There was a necropolis behind the church where clergymen and respected citizens of the city were buried, but nothing remains of it either.

Since 1944, the residents of Tyukalinsk have repeatedly appealed to the authorities to reopen the church. In 1947, they built a log church with their own efforts, which became dilapidated by 1980. Bishop Maxim blessed its repair, and Hieromonk Dmitry (Khramtsov), now an archimandrite, was the parish rector. With the permission of the authorities, the walls of the church were laid with two and a half bricks, effectively building a new, larger church.

However, in 1986, the brick church also suffered from a fire, the causes of which remain unclear. It may have been an organized act. After restoration, the building retained a flat ceiling.

In the early 1990s, another consecration of the John the Baptist Church took place, conducted by Metropolitan Theodosius of Omsk and Tara together with Archimandrite Innocent (Prosvirnin). Since February 21, 1996, the new rector of the parish has been Priest Dmitry Grishin. In 2002, the church was adorned with a long-awaited bell tower, built with the funds of parishioners and with the support of the governor of the Omsk region, Leonid Polezhaev.

Among the relics of the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist is an ancient icon of John the Baptist from the 18th century, which was last year placed against the relics of the saint. The church also houses other ancient icons, such as the icon of St. Nicholas the Miracle Worker, also painted in the eighteenth century.
