The Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in the village of Severny is the first and only church in this locality. It was consecrated on October 7, 2001, by Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol. The construction of the church was carried out by the Belgorod plant ZHBK-1, which also manufactured all the elements of the exterior decoration, including the wrought-iron fence and paving tiles.
A children's Sunday school operates at the church. It is associated with two chapels: one at the soldiers' grave in honor of the "Not-Made-by-Hands Image," consecrated in May 1999, and the chapel "Rotunda" in the name of Saint George the Victorious, consecrated in 1998.
