Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in Lemenge

Фото 1
The wooden church in the remote village of the former Uzdren parish was built by local residents in 1899. The building is clad in planking and includes a square structure with a rectangular altar, a refectory, and a bell tower. Currently, the church is in a semi-ruined state, with the domes missing.

Originally, the church, dedicated to the Nativity of John the Baptist, was located in the women's Uzdra desert, situated 35 versts to the north. According to local residents, in 1929 the church was moved from the village of Lipovo, which has not survived to this day.

Before the onset of the Great Patriotic War, the church building housed a school, and in the 1950s-60s, it served as a warehouse. It is possible that another church or chapel previously stood on this site, as an old cemetery has been preserved nearby. Currently, the church is abandoned and continues to deteriorate.
