The Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist in Dmitrovsk

Фото 1
The brick cemetery church, built in the style of late classicism, replaced the previous wooden structure. Its construction was completed in 1838, and the consecration took place in 1842. Since 1902, it was annexed to the Trinity Cathedral. It was a single-domed temple with a refectory and a two-tiered bell tower. The refectory housed an altar dedicated to Alexander of Svir. In the 1930s, the church was dismantled for bricks. From 2014 to 2017, a wooden church was built in its place. The new temple, constructed in the "lap" technique, consists of rectangular volumes for the main and altar parts, topped with spherical domes, a short refectory, and a bell tower. The bell tower features a tall square lower tier and an octagonal ringing tier, crowned with a low spire.
