In the village of Stuzhen in the Manturovsky District of the Kursk Region, there is a ruined Church of the Nativity of Christ, built in 1879.

The desecration of the Nativity Church in Stuzhen began on March 10, 1931. On this day, priest Fyodor Petrovich Chekrygin, deacon Stefan Terentyevich Kotenyev, and peasants Zakhar Petrovich and Petr Alekseyevich Zakharov, who were labeled as "kulaks," were arrested and taken to the Old Oskol prison. After forty days, they were found guilty of issues related to local collective farm construction and sent to a concentration camp: the priest for five years, the others for three years.

The closure of the church in Stuzhen occurred by the decision of the Kursk Regional Executive Committee on November 16, 1937.

Priest Fyodor Chekrygin, deacon Stefan Kotenyev, and Fyodor and Petr Zakharov were rehabilitated on May 17, 1994.
