Recently, the village of Zaruchevskaya has begun to expand into new territories, gradually moving away from the old streets and center, where the dilapidated stone church of the Vladimir Icon of the Mother of God is located. This church was destroyed during the years of Bolshevik rule. Not far from it, on a picturesque green meadow by the Pezhma River, a new church of John the Baptist was built. Its construction, which took three years, was financed by local entrepreneur Andrey Podolyan.

The church is a tent-shaped octagon with covered barrel vaults for the altar and narthex, as well as an asymmetrically located tent-shaped bell tower. The domes are made of stainless steel and covered with yellow copper. The project of the church was developed by architect V.A. Nazaretyants from Velsk, a representative of a dynasty of architects.

Construction began in 2008, and in June 2010, all external works were completed, including the consecration and installation of the domes. The interior finishing was fully completed in 2011.

On the bell weighing about 500 kilograms, there is an inscription: "This bell was cast on May 29, 2012, for the Church of John the Baptist by the efforts and endeavors of pious Orthodox Christians."
