The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Stary Oskol was built from 2007 to 2010. Its height, including the dome and cross, is 40 meters. This magnificent and majestic structure is executed in the traditional Russian style.

On July 17, 2007, Archbishop John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the cornerstone at the site of the future church in the Dubrava microdistrict, dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh.

On August 29, 2010, on the day of the celebration of the Theodorov Icon of the Mother of God, the church was consecrated in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh.

The lower church is consecrated in honor of the Theodorov Icon of the Mother of God, which was especially venerated in the family of the holy and righteous Prince Alexander Nevsky, the heavenly patron of Stary Oskol, as well as in the royal Romanov dynasty. In October 2007, the ancient Theodorov Icon of the Mother of God from the Epiphany Cathedral in Kostroma was brought to Stary Oskol.

On October 8, 2016, the painting of the walls and ceilings of the church was completed. On November 13, 2016, Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol consecrated the painting during the Sunday Divine Liturgy. The church has a spiritual and educational center with an extensive parish library and rooms for meetings and events, as well as a children's Sunday school.
