The Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh in Sergievsky (destroyed)

Фото 1
The church in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh was built at the initiative of the parishioners with the permission and blessing of Archbishop Athanasius of Novocherkassk and Georgievsk on December 11, 1837. It was consecrated in 1839.

Initially, the church building was wooden, standing on a stone foundation and had a similar bell tower. On September 5, 1899, at a meeting of the village residents, a decision was made to build a new church due to the dilapidation of the old one. On July 8, 1901, the first stone of the new stone church, also dedicated to St. Sergius of Radonezh, was laid. The construction was completed in 1905, and the consecration took place in 1906.

During the persecutions against the Russian Orthodox Church in the last century, the church was completely destroyed, and a village House of Culture was later built in its place.
