On October 17, 2017, Metropolitan John of Belgorod and Stary Oskol conducted the consecration of the frescoes and a thanksgiving service at the Temple of St. Sergius of Radonezh in the village of Erik, Belgorod District.

Previously, there was no church in the village of Erik. In 2014, an iron trailer was set up there, where services began to be held. By the decree of Metropolitan John, Archpriest Alexander Postnikov became the rector of the parish. In April of the same year, when the Russian Orthodox Church celebrated the 700th anniversary of the birth of St. Sergius of Radonezh, a stone was laid for the foundation of the future church. The construction was overseen by Yu.V. Galdun, who was then the head of the Belgorod District.

The consecration of the church took place on January 14, 2016. After that, it was decided to decorate the church with frescoes. Thanks to the efforts of Yuri Galdun, the frescoes were completed in six months. Scenes from the life of St. Sergius of Radonezh and images of the most revered Russian saints appeared on the walls. The stone single-domed church is designed in the style of the first stone church at the grave of St. Sergius of Radonezh. The iconostasis made of white marble is created in the traditions of Russian masters, borrowed from the Byzantines. The church will become the central part of the church complex.
