The parish in the village of Girya was established in 2000 at the initiative of local residents, who sought support from the archpriest of the Peschansk district, A. Filin. A part of the former railway barracks was allocated to the parish, where repairs were made, an iconostasis with icons was installed, and an altar was equipped. Since June, regular services have been held in this place according to the Statute.
Construction of the church in honor of St. Seraphim of Sarov began in 2007. By 2011, the walls of the church had been raised to the roof level, and a church house for the rector was built. The new church opened its doors in the summer of 2016.
