Bishop Veniamin of Rybinsk and Uglich has blessed the fundraising for the construction of the Temple of St. Irinarh the Hermit in the village of Borisoglebsk in the Yaroslavl region. The temple will include chapels in honor of St. Sergius and the martyr Grand Duchess Elizabeth Romanova, as well as a chapel "Unexpected Joy" featuring images of St. Nicholas and St. Spyridon.

The Time of Troubles in Russia lasted from 1605 to 1613, and it was during this period that Yaroslavl played a key role in preserving the state. A significant figure in overcoming the troubles was St. Irinarh the Hermit of Borisoglebsk, whose 400th anniversary of his passing will be celebrated in 2016. In honor of this anniversary, it has been decided to build a temple dedicated to Irinarh the Hermit, as there is still no temple in his honor in Russia. His blessings to princes Mikhail Skopin-Shuisky and Dmitry Pozharsky were invaluable, contributing to the victories of Russian warriors over the Polish-Lithuanian invaders. Therefore, the temple will be adorned with frescoes depicting Irinarh's blessings to these princes and their armies.

Today, Russia is once again experiencing turmoil, possibly even deeper due to the spiritual laxity of the people. To uplift the spirit, it is important to remember the events of the early 17th century, which may help find a way out of the modern crisis.

The main altar of the temple will be dedicated to Irinarh, while a small chapel will house an altar in honor of St. Sergius of Radonezh with a fresco depicting the blessing of Prince Dmitry Donskoy. The third chapel will be dedicated to Grand Duchess Elizabeth Feodorovna Romanova and will include a baptismal font. This chapel is significant in connection with the celebration of the 400th anniversary of the Romanov House, whose ascension to the throne was aided by Irinarh the Hermit.

There is no parish church in Borisoglebsk for conducting sacraments, so the construction of the Irinarh temple is vital. This is as important as the erection of the temple to Patriarch Germogen in Moscow, the temple of the Mother of God of the Sovereign in Rostov Veliky, as well as the restoration of great Orthodox shrines such as the Cathedral of Christ the Savior in Moscow and the Spaso-Eleazar Monastery in Pskov. The construction of the temple complex will begin with the erection of a chapel in honor of the icon of the Mother of God "Unexpected Joy" featuring images of St. Nicholas and St. Spyridon.
