On April 9, 1998, the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church decided to bless the opening of a women's monastery in the village of Zolotukhino, Kursk region, dedicated to St. Alexius, Man of God. One of the former rural buildings on the monastery grounds was converted into a temple in honor of St. Alexius.

The women's monastery, dedicated to St. Alexius, Man of God, was founded on a site where there had never been an Orthodox monastery or parish church, even before the 1917 revolution. Previously, this was an abandoned plot of land with administrative and utility buildings belonging to the agricultural enterprise 'Sodruzhestvo.'

Despite the deplorable condition of the site and buildings, including dilapidated structures, littered territory, and lack of solid road coverage, in 1997, Archbishop of Kursk and Rylsk, now Schema-Metropolitan Iuvenaly (Tarasov), decided to acquire this land and establish a monastic community in honor of St. Alexius, Man of God. Alexius Tarasov, the archbishop's father, was shot in 1937 during the repressions, and St. Alexius is his heavenly patron. The plot was transferred to the Kursk Diocese on September 11, 1997, the day of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist.
