The Church of Righteous Procopius of Ustyug in Pezmeg

The former church building of Procopius of Ustyug is located in the village of Pezmeg in the Kortkeros district of the Republic of Komi, Russia. It stands on a high bank of the Vychegda River in the southern part of the village.

The village of Pezmeg has a long history and is mentioned in documents from 1646 as a village on the lake of the same name. The main occupations of the local residents are agriculture and livestock farming. In the past, the village was large, but according to the 2010 census, it has a population of 318.

The stone building of the Church of Procopius of Ustyug was constructed in 1843 and includes three altars and two churches, summer and winter.

In the 1930s, the church was closed, and all property and the building itself were nationalized and transferred to local authorities.

In 2014, restoration work began on the abandoned church.
