The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Mother of God in the village of Stara Bezginka was built in the second half of the 18th century on the site where a wooden church dedicated to Archangel Michael had previously stood. Before the construction of the stone church, a wooden church operated in the village, which was moved to the village of Nova Bezginka in the Kursk province in 1760. The two-story Intercession Church in Stara Bezginka was built by the landowner, retired Premier Major Fyodor Bezgan.

The lower church was consecrated in honor of St. Dimitri of Rostov in 1715, while the upper church, completed by 1777, was dedicated to the Intercession of the Mother of God.

In the late 1940s, the Intercession Church was partially dismantled; however, services continued in the remaining part. After some time, they were prohibited. On October 14, 1995, after the completion of restoration work, the church was consecrated again.
