The Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin in the village of Novaya Tavolzhanka was built in 2005 and 2019 on the site where a church from the first half of the 19th century once stood, which was destroyed during the Soviet era.

In 1827, with the funds of landowner Ekaterina Mukhanova, a stone Intercession Church was built in the settlement of Tavolzhanka. By 1908, the parish included two localities: Novaya and Staraya Tavolzhanka. The parish had 1,060 parishioners, and there were church-parish, zemstvo schools, and a literacy school. The church owned 30 desyatinas of arable land. According to a description from 1910, the church had three altars arranged and consecrated: the main altar in honor of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin, in the southern chapel, in the name of Saint Archdeacon Stephen, and in the northern chapel, in the name of the Holy Apostles Peter and Paul.

In the 1930s, the church was destroyed, and the community was given the building of a former two-class ministerial school, built by the director of the Novotavolzhansky sugar factory Botkin in the early 20th century, for conducting services.

In 2005, a stone was laid for the construction of a new church. Fourteen years later, an important event for all Orthodox Christians took place in the village, the opening and consecration of the Church of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin.
