The church, built between 1908 and 1912 with funds from local factory owner Prince Baratov, is a cross-shaped structure in the Russian style. Originally five-domed, it has a massive volume with a faceted apse and rectangular arms of the cross, at the center of which rises a large light octagon. Previously, there were four small blind domes between the arms of the cross, and above the center of the cross-oriented porch, adjacent to the square refectory, there was a tiered bell tower.

The facade decor, executed in the style of 17th-century Russian architecture, includes flares on the side pilasters, a city-like belt, and cornices with teeth at the top of the walls, keel-shaped archivolts of arched windows and niches, as well as half-columns with bundles in the triple windows on the side facades.

The interior space of the church is supported by four powerful corner pylons, which, with the help of supporting arches and flat sails, carry the octagon, covered with a closed vault. The arms and refectory have barrel vaults. The arms housed chapels, with eastern corner volumes serving as altars and western ones as porches. The porch is divided into three rooms: a square one in the center and narrow rectangular ones on the sides, one of which contained the staircase to the bell tower.
