The Orthodox parish of the Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God was established in 2007 as the parish of the church of the Holy Martyr Onuphrius, Archbishop of Kursk and Oboyansk. Initially, the parish was located in the building of a former kindergarten at 19 Druzhby Avenue, where all services were held daily. By the blessing of Archbishop German, the head of the Kursk Diocese, on July 13, 2009, the parish received a new name in honor of the Intercession of the Mother of God. In 2008, a plot of land was allocated for the construction of the church on Khrushchyov Avenue, near house 22, and in 2009, the construction of the chapel began. Since August 7, 2011, services have been held here, while the construction of the main church continues. The parish has a Sunday school with 25 students. Regular catechetical discussions are also held with those being baptized, their sponsors, and parents before the sacrament of Baptism.
