The clerical record of the Intercession Church in the Kanevskaya stanitsa of the IV Deanery of the Kuban region states that it was built in 1912. This brick building with one dome and a cold bell tower, covered with iron, is surrounded by an iron fence with cast-iron pillars on a stone foundation. The church has one altar dedicated to the Intercession of the Holy Virgin. It is located 260 versts from the consistory, 35 versts from the Deanery, 100 versts from the district town of Yeysk, and 120 versts from Yekaterinodar. The nearest churches are the Holy Spirit Church in Kanevskaya stanitsa, one and a half versts away, and the Assumption Church in Staroderevyankovskaya stanitsa, four versts away.

The construction of the church was financed by funds collected from the Cossacks of the Kanevsky yurt, as well as from the stanitsa administration, which received income from land leases and fair fees. Wealthy stanitsa residents also made large donations. The project in the Russian-Byzantine style was developed by architect I.Kh. Morbel, and its cost was estimated at 100,000 rubles.

For construction, a mixture of lime paste and egg white was used, for which 5 million eggs were collected. This mixture gave the masonry special strength. The church was built on a high foundation in the center of the Southern Square, chosen by a famous hermit from the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra, as this place was considered blessed. Believers feel a special lightness and spiritual comfort in the church. The church was built by invited craftsmen, while local young people helped as laborers. The construction was carried out with high quality, and the contractor constantly monitored the process.

The church has a cross-dome structure with four chapels and a main drum topped with an onion-shaped dome. Decorative towers on the roof give the building a unique appearance. The bell tower is a round drum with open openings and is also topped with a cross. The crosses were light, wooden, with copper gilded cladding. The main drum is adorned with narrow pointed windows that provide natural light. The side chapels also have windows and contribute to the lighting. All windows are well-made and have served for almost a century.

The bell ensemble was made by Ural masters and included the main bell and several others. The interior decoration was carried out by Italian masters and specialists from the Kuban region. Marble walls, biblical-themed paintings, and a beautiful altar gave the church a special splendor.

In 1935, the church was closed, and specialists from Rostov arrived to confiscate church property. According to the memories of the old-timers, the church had golden ciboria, silver and gold chalices, precious icon covers, and other valuables donated by wealthy parishioners. All confiscated items were handed over to the State Storage, while the rest was dismantled by the parishioners.

The church reopened on October 14, 1942, during the occupation. It has now been restored, renovated, a new cross has been installed on the dome, and the territory has been improved. A church school operates at the church.
