The parish in the village of Ivot was founded in 1881. The modern church, dedicated to the Protection of the Holy Virgin, was built from 1905 to 1914 with funds provided by the Maltsev Society, replacing an old wooden church with two chapels, constructed between 1881 and 1883. Due to World War I, the construction of the church was not completed. In 1930, the church building housed a pioneer club, removing the bell tower and crosses. In 1942, services resumed, but only for a short time. From 1943 to 1961, the church served as a club for the village of Ivot. In the 1970s, the building suffered from a fire. Restoration work began in 1990.
