The church in the village of Grigoropoliskaya was founded in 1904. A year later, the merchant of the first guild, Polina Mikhailovna Leontievna, donated 55 thousand rubles in silver for its construction. Thanks to these funds and the local brick factory, the church was built in two years, and by the end of 1907, the first services had already begun.

In 1937, the church in Grigoropoliskaya met the fate of many others; it was destroyed, and its rector, Archpriest Georgy Ivanovich Bukin, was shot.

Until the late 1980s, the half-ruined church building, overgrown with grass, was used as a grain storage facility, a cement warehouse, and for chemical fertilizers. In May 1988, the board of the collective farm 'Russia' decided to restore the church. Restoration work began, and a native of the village, Alexander Goreshev, decorated the walls with paintings. The main part of the restoration was completed by 1994, and services resumed in the church. On June 19, 1994, Archbishop Valentin (Mishchuk) of Baku consecrated the church in the name of the icon of the Intercession of the Holy Virgin.
