The Church of the Intercession of the Mother of God is located in a picturesque area of the Altai Mountains, in the village of Ust-Koksa, which serves as the district center. Construction of the church began in the 1990s with funding from the district administration and agricultural enterprises. Initially, the building was planned as a residential house for the priest and a guesthouse for the faithful, but due to a lack of funds, it had to be converted into a church. In 1997, architect Boris Vinnikov from Rostov-on-Don began to beautify the building, adding domes, a bell tower, and an altar. Services started even before the construction was completed, beginning with Easter in 1992. The first rector and organizer of the church was Father Andrei Sukhovsky (1941-2012), who started the construction from scratch and over 20 years turned the church into a spiritual center for the village and the district. Since 2013, the rector has been Father Vadim Petrovsky.

The church has a functioning library, as well as a Sunday school, youth club, and women's club.
