The stone church, built in 1755 by F.M. Kamensky, was originally cold and had two altars: the main one in honor of St. Michael the Archangel, and a side altar dedicated to St. John the Baptist. In 1862, the side altar was made warm. The church underwent repairs in 1823, 1875, 1888, and 1892. The bell tower housed six bells, one of which was cast from a Turkish cannon captured by M.F. Kamensky at the fortress of Shumla. In 1809, Field Marshal Mikhail Fedotovich Kamensky was buried in the church, and in 1811, his son, General of the Infantry Nikolai.

In 1930, the church was closed, and the Kamensky burials were opened and looted. The refectory and bell tower were dismantled for bricks. In 1995, the church was returned to the community of believers.
