In 1872, a stone church was built in the village of Arkhangelsk in the Gubkinsky District of the Belgorod Region in honor of Archangel Michael.

In the early 20th century, the church was visited by 1,835 parishioners, and the parish also included the village of Pastukhivka and the hamlet of Ivitsa. With the advent of Soviet power, the Archangel Michael Church was desecrated and closed, and the building was used as a warehouse for a long time. By the end of the 20th century, the church was in a semi-ruined and abandoned state.

Only three mosaic scenes on the walls of the church have survived to this day. In the 1990s, the church was returned to the Russian Orthodox Church, restored, and reopened for believers. The revived church was consecrated by Bishop Ioann of Belgorod and Stary Oskol on November 25, 1997.
